Privacy & cookie policy
The data controller is Maxime Galera, publisher of the site (contact: maximegalera.pro@gmail.com). Who put this ? is built to collect as little data as possible: no account, no email, no password.
Game data
The first name you type, your YouTube links and your votes travel directly between the players' devices (WebRTC via the PeerJS library). They are not stored on our servers and disappear when the game closes. A public PeerJS signalling server sees your IP address and the room's technical ID to connect devices.
Reactions sent during a game (emotes, memes, images) take the same path and only show on the players' screens. An image picked from your phone is shrunk on your device, then sent straight to the other players; it isn't stored anywhere. Only send images you're allowed to share.
When you paste a link, the site asks YouTube whether the video exists and can be played outside YouTube (YouTube's oEmbed service, which also returns its title). YouTube sees your IP address and the video ID.
Public rooms
If the host makes a room public, a small card (host name, theme, settings, player count) is stored temporarily in Google Firebase (Firestore) and deleted when the game starts or the room closes. Private rooms are never listed.
Usage statistics
The site anonymously counts total visits and games started (two global counters). It may also use Umami, a cookie-free audience measurement tool hosted in the EU: page views, country, device type, referring site and a few game actions (room created, game started). Umami sets no cookies, doesn't store your IP address in clear and doesn't track you across sites.
Local storage
Your browser keeps a few settings (volume, language, display mode, your name and links during a game so you can rejoin after a reload, a random ID for meme search, an anti-spam delay for public rooms). If you install the site on your phone, a copy of the site's files is kept on your device so it opens faster. All of this stays on your device.
Third parties
YouTube (privacy-enhanced embed, youtube-nocookie.com, and link checks), Netlify (hosting logs), Cloudflare cdnjs (code libraries), Umami (cookie-free statistics) and KLIPY (meme search: your search terms, language and a random ID are sent when you open “Memes”; see KLIPY's policy) may process your IP address under their own policies.
Advertising and cookies
To stay free, the site may show ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve, personalise (with your consent) and measure ads. In the EU, UK and Switzerland a Google consent banner (IAB TCF-certified) lets you accept, refuse or customise these cookies before any are set; refusing is as easy as accepting. You can change your choice at any time via the “Privacy and cookie settings” link the banner adds at the bottom of the page; your choice is kept for up to 13 months. More: how Google uses data from partner sites.
Legal bases and retention
Running the game: performance of the service you request (game data deleted when the game ends). Visit counters and cookie-free audience measurement: legitimate interest, aggregated data only. Meme search and link checks: performance of the service you request, only when you use them. Personalised ads and ad cookies: your consent, withdrawable at any time. Some providers (Google, Netlify, Cloudflare, PeerJS, KLIPY) may process data outside the EU, including in the US, under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
